Design conceptual design development
RAD, or River Art District is a fantastic place in Asheville NC. Visitors (Introduction the background); It is not only about how people feel arts, it is about how people get from the arts and how they interact with arts. Here, like many other artists villages around the world, is the home for the dreamers. The project contains the following spaces: 1, community center(restaurant, bar, stores, gym, children care, library, classroom, offices); 2, 29 units multiple types of live-work units (four types of living units) 3, stores 4, studio area with storage area 5, public space(interior and exterior open area) The design principles and techniques employed in the project include but not limited to: 1, applying the affordable housing/ co-housing typology 2, maximization the communal area 3, existing landscape preservation (historical landscape preservation)/ minimization modification of the existing landscape 4, enlarge the density of the architecture 5, green building design strategy (heating and cooling performance, building massing design, PV-passive solar energy application, passive solar design strategy, water collection, high-performance building envelope, and geothermal system) 6, BPAC, EUI-life cycle design strategy (wind, solar, water, power).
